American Dog Derby

The American Dog Derby is a dogsled race held in Ashton Idaho, on the third weekend of February. It is the oldest dog sled race in the United States. The first American Dog Derby was held March 4, 1917 run from West Yellowstone, MT to Ashton a distance of 55 miles.  It was tremendously popular in the 1920s through the 1950s. The running of the dogs in Ashton is an exciting event rich in history.
