Walt Carter would come to the Ashton Area from California for about 15 years to elk hunt. One time he asked Tracy, his wife to join him and see Ashton. Well, it wasn’t love at first site until he showed her Greentimber and our lovely forest; then she was sold! After selling his rice farm in 1994 Walt and Tracy moved from Gridley, California to Ashton/ Greentimber, bought a cabin and settled. Needing some work Tracy opened her business of “Greentimber Therapeutic Massage”. What better place to relax and let it all go than in the woods in a cozy cabin! They soon realized that with much company it might be nice to purchase and remodel a little cabin down the road from them as a guest house. 1997 was the year they remodeled their first cabin and realized that people would rent it from them for a weekend or a couple of weeks. Then in 2006 they were given the opportunity to purchase the bigger cabin next door to them which they turned into another rental. Both cabin’s are fully furnished with well stocked full size kitchens, bedrooms, and bathrooms. Both cabins are equipped with a washer, dryer, and all linens are provided. They’re a home away from home. Except for the added peaceful, private, and relaxing atmosphere. In the summertime enjoy the beautiful groomed grounds with fire pits, a game of horseshoes, or badminton/volleyball nets ready for fun or enjoy a beautiful nature hike. In the wintertime these quaint cabins are nestled at the head of a snow machine trail or you can cross country ski to Fall River Ridge and/or Mesa Falls. So let Walt, Tracy and their happy dogs; Beau & Peanut be your hosts and stay at the Carter’s Cabins ! These “little hidden jewels” will be just what the doctor ordered from the stress and strain of work and the busyness of life. And amidst the cozy, comfy cabin life, you may even be able to schedule a massage! Call Carter’s today at 652-7234. As the automobile industry became popular so did family vaca-tions and lodging. In 1924, D.K. Rankin and his brother Hugh built the Rankin Auto Court cabins and the Log Cabin Motel cabins. D.K. and his wife Eva with their five children ran their farm and rented their cabins. Betty (Rankin) Grover and her husband bought the business from her dad and expanded with more units.

Today, Betty’s daughter Jenny and her husband Robert Groom have worked very hard to keep the family tradi-tion alive! They have 4 cabins; each with two bedrooms, mi-crowave, refrigerator, and a coffee pot. Plus 6 other rooms. All their rooms have cable T.V. They have been working very hard to give their business a face lift and to upkeep the landscaping with new flower beds and a new business sign depicting the heritage.

So, if you have family or friends that need a place to rest on their way to Yellowstone Park or over to the beautiful Grand Tetons; have them make Rankin Motel their destina-tion for a rest! For reservations call 652-3570 or Robert’s cell is 851-8646 and they’ll leave the light on!

The Yellowstone Bed & Breakfast is Doug and Jill Bobb's idea of a "retirement", however after the grand tour and learning of everything they are doing while, "retired", I would say they're not retired just living their second dream in life.

Doug and Jill moved to the Ashton area from Twin Falls, ID where they enjoyed working at the hospital there. Doug worked in x-ray and Jill in administration. Doug also taught photography classes at College of Southern Idaho in the evenings.

In the summers they would book photographic tours to Yellowstone and around the Ashton area and show people the beauty we enjoy in our backyard.

After some time, they started building little cabins in Twin Falls and would ship them to Ashton to complete the inside of them, which is where their guests enjoy a rustic getaway now in Potpourri.

They bought their land back in 1989 and by about 1995 they were in teh bed and breakfast business. They finally moved here permanently in 2008 and live in a cabin they built here for themselves and grandma overlooking their bed and breakfast business below.

The Bobb's have 3 cabins, 1 bathhouse with 2 full bathrooms and a washer and dryer for their guests. There is a cookhouse where breakfast is served each morning for their dutch ovens and fire pit.

This is the place if you truly want to hide from the chaos of life! There aren't televisions, phones, traffic or people to be in your way. Just 100% rustic, comfy, cozy cabins in the woods where you can enjoy nature at it's best.

The cabins are open from June thru September. The Bobb's also have a cottage they rent out year around that has two bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom and living room.

Every cabin is simply decorated with may of Doug's photography work, which is amazing!

Doug and Jill maintain some lovely cabins for you to enjoy in the summer, they care for grandma, and you can run into Jill working at 511 Main Pizzeria most days of the week.

They would be pleased to be your hosts next summer at Yellowstone Bed & Breakfast!
